Testimonials – Our Patients Speak
We are fortunate that we are able to help change the lives of so many people. The work we do not only affects the patient, but very often the entire household. This page is dedicated to sharing some of those stories.

Ian – A difficult case with great results
This is a progress update from the mother of a 16 year old boy diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay, and Attention Deficit Disorder. At the time of my involvement with this case, Ian was on home school program as his home public school district refused him any special services. He was set to transition to a school that specialized in education for those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
While there is a bit more transition taking place I thought it hopeful and helpful to share Ian’s progress since the beginning of February. We truly are a team. We are grateful for everyone’s efforts to help Ian be the best Ian he can be and then some! Thank you!!!
I apologize they are a bit scattered but I am jotting them down as I noticed.
- When upset, no major meltdowns (used to be throwing things, crying)
- Bumping into Ian by accident no longer sets him off (usually anger, reacts)
- Open to moving bathroom schedule so he has plenty of time to go before school van arrives – he is ready for pick-up
- Handling change of hours – daylight savings well – past was meltdowns, tired, not functioning too well
- After several anxiety attacks agreed to take Gaba morning and evening
- Beginning to sleep more consistently through the night, maybe one or two nights up
- Brushing his teeth am/pm without being reminded
- Laughing more
- Letting me use electric razor with him, laughing and giggling with sensation instead of his usually freaking out by the sound or the touch of razor or moving so much it’s impossible
- No hair, eyebrow or eyelash picking (hands continue, a little reduced this week)
- Only one day of vomiting episode
- Remembering good dreams
- His younger brother was upset about something a few weeks ago…Ian brought tissues, and comforted him. (instead of saying- what’s his problem?)
- Finishing his medicines w/o a lot of reminders or reacting that I am reminding him
- Combing hair, has been a long time!
- Calmer overall – maybe disagree and not be happy with something but doesn’t have a fit over situations.
- Less hand washing – still does but not every half hour and has recognized the pools of water and is drying them up (maybe the water bill will drop tool)
- Putting his coat in the hall closet w/o anyone telling him to do so
- Turning off lights when he leaves room
- Huge since <his new school> – doing homework right away right after a snack- always put it off. <it was a> tug of war to get him started and finished.
